Under Document Name , select any documents listed, and under Document , select Cancel. In the search box on the taskbar, type services , and then select Services in the list of results. Find the Print Spooler service, right-click it, and select Restart. Select your printer, select Remove device , and then select Yes. Rebooting your PC can sometimes help to refresh the services and components necessary for your device to communicate with your printer. Need more help? Join the discussion. We've tried to reconnect and refresh it, but it usually freezes. It's gotten to the point that we have to delete it and Add A Printer every morning! It will work fine all day, but as soon as we either restart it, or turn it back on the next morning, we hit the same wall.
The printer is a big old Toshiba e-studio 35 running off our network which is hooked through our server. A Toshiba tech guy gave me a new driver for it that he said should work with Vista, but I don't know if our problem is driver related or just part of the fun of running an 8 year old printer off Vista. We do plan on upgrading our printer, but as our lease isn't up until February, I'm really hoping that I don't have to Add A Printer five days a week for the next three months!

In control panel, right click on the printer and make sure the printer is not set to use offline. If this doesn't work, you will have to reinstall the drivers. To reinstall the drivers go to "Settings" then "Printers" and select the printer. Right-click on the printer and choose "Properties". You may also have to download the driver from the printer manufacturer's website.
Reinstall the printer. Under "Printers" in the "Settings" menu, go back select the printer. Delete the printer from the menu and reinstall it again through the "Add printer" wizard.
