I have a 64bit system installed on mine and the windows bios update program downloaded the new bios, erased the old bios but could not install the new one and I was left with a dead board.

This is what I suspect happened here. Either the download was bad, floppy was bad, or the file your chose was not for your board or your board's revision. Yet some others may automatically time out and look for a certain file on the floppy or cdrom. You need to research asus's site to find out which method is applicable to your board. If all else fails, rma the board. And yes I checked all cables :P. With a corrupted bios flash, your display will likely remain blank, no sync. Did you read your owner's manual?

If you leave a floppy in the drive, does it try to boot? No way of recovering other then cmos reset, if that doesnt work I have to RMA. He stated the bios is located in the southbridge and there is no way of correcting that other then sending it to them. Way to go ASUS! Now I gotta wait a week for this board to be sent out and come back, maybe even more since im in Canada.
Anon bellsouth. These are all different boards with different BIOS's.
