I just came across the same issue on a new Acer laptop, and found that I could not log in locally, but i could still log in via RDP to the unit as well as being able to log in in safe mode. View solution in original post. It seems to be long-term issue. I suppose that some ms hotfix caused this issue, however it is my estimate only.
Did somebody make a deeper view into this problem already? I found that this works, it basically tells the computer to not require you to press ctrl alt del. Our computers have ESET, but it's only in the last month that it's prevented ctrl-alt-del from working about the same time LogMeIn decided they wanted you to run an external program rather than go through the web.
Ctrl-alt-ins doesn't seem to work, and the toolbar seems to now be missing the "send special characters" option it used to have: now it only has the ctrl-alt-del button.
